The Door Set Company are certified installers of fire doors. Proper installation of fire door assemblies and door sets is fundamental to their overall performance because it will ensure that the fire door remains reliable to its fire integrity rating in the event of a fire.
All doors manufactured by BWF-CERTIFIRE certificated manufacturers, like The Door Set Company, include specific and comprehensive installation instructions. It is imperative that these are followed in order for the door to remain certified. Incorrect installation defeats the purpose of certified fired doors, certified components and cerficated hardware because in a fire, the smoke and gases produced can easily travel through gaps left by incorrect installation. A certificated half-hour fire door which is incorrectly installed may only provide 5-10 minutes of fire resistance.
Installing fire doors is a specialized task. To ensure correct installation is carried out, the BWF has formed an association with FIRAS and developed an Accredited Fire Door Installer Scheme. By using properly trained and accredited installers you can be confident that fire door installations are carried out safely and in total compliance with the Building Regulations.
FIRAS accredits installer companies and trains their staff. FIRAS also requires regular inspections of the installers work on site. The installer will make a point of ensuring that all the components used in the fire door assembly are compatible. FIRAS registered installers attach their own distinctive permanent and tamper evident label to every fire door they install and issue a certificate of conformity stating that the work undertaken meets the required standard.
